Plucky Geylang ruin Bok's SAFFC farewell

Outgoing SAFFC coach Richard Bok was unable to pull off one final Great Eastern-YEO's S.League win on Thursday as his side were beaten 3-0 at Geylang United.

Nonetheless, Bok's final season in charge of the Warriors is still likely to be considered a success given he led them to the RHB Singapore Cup just four days ago with a last-gasp 2-1 win over Tampines Rovers.

However, there was no repeat of that at the Bedok Stadium as his side fell behind after just seven minutes when Eagles forward Jozef Kaplan opened the scoring.

Right on the half-hour mark, the Slovak doubled his and Geylang's tally, before Ang Zhiwei wrapped things up in the 72nd minute by adding a third with a cool finish.

The result also capped off a fine end to the season for V. Kanan's men, who picked up 12 points from their final eight league games following their runners-up finish in the Singapore League Cup back in August.

In Thursday's other game, Home United failed to fire for the second week running as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Courts Young Lions.

Protectors striker Frederic Mendy did hit the back of the net twice in either half but both strikes were chalked off for offside, and the Frenchman let his frustration get the better of him as he was sent off after the final whistle for dissent.
