The game, which had initially been played on September 27 but was called off due to inclement weather, got off to a lively start with Wan Zack Haikal wasting the first real chance in the sixth minute, when he fired wide after latching onto a headed clearance from Paul Cunningham.
Balestier keeper Zakariah Nerani then made a couple of good saves to deny D. Saarvindran and Nazirul Naim, but it was the visitors who produced the best moment of the half when Hamqaamal Shah brilliantly turned Mahalli Jasuli down the left, only to see his dangerous cross punched clear by Izham Tarmizi.
Nonetheless, the deadlock was broken seven minutes after the break when Ahmad Hazwan's shot deflected off a Tigers defender and made its way into the back of the net, although Zakariah would probably feel he could have done better with that effort.
A minute from time, Harimau made sure of the three points when Wan Zack burst past Yusiskandar Yusop and Poh Yi Feng and whipped in a cross to Saarvindran, who brought the ball under control well before lashing his shot into the back of the net.
To add insult to injury, Balestier were reduced to ten men in injury-time after Yusiskandar received his second yellow for a rough challenge on Hazwan, capping off a forgettable day at the office for the Tigers.
