Following a goalless first half at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Young Lions went ahead in the 52nd minute when Jaguars defender Hafiz Osman chested a Sherif El-Masri cross into his own net.

However, the ex-Singapore international made amends four minutes later when he ventured forward for a corner at netted at the right end to grab a share of the spoils for Tanjong Pagar.

Despite failing to hold on to their lead, Young Lions will take heart from an improved display which was significantly better than what they had produced in their previous three defeats to Balestier Khalsa, Gombak United and DPMM FC.

Over at the Clementi Stadium, Albirex Niigata threw the title race wide open with a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind triumph over leaders Tampines Rovers.

Tampines twice took the lead in the first half through Sead Hadzibulic and Ahmad Latiff in the eighth and 33rd minute respectively, but on both occasions, Yasuhiro Yamakoshi responded with an equaliser for the visitors.

Two minutes after the break, Aleksandar Duric fired home from close range to make it 3-2 to the Stags, but Yamakoshi once again proved to be the hero for the Japanese outfit as he headed in a Takeshi Ito cross in the 72nd minute to complete his hat-trick.

Two minutes later, the hosts were reduced to ten men when Mustafic Fahrudin received a second booking and with the numerical advantage, Albirex went on to claim all three points eight minutes from time when Sho Kamimura tapped home a rebound, after Sasa Dreven had saved Hidekazu Yamamoto's initial effort.
