More woe for Geylang; Albirex go top
Geylang United's poor form in the Great Eastern-YEO's S.League continued on Thursday as they were beaten by Hougang United 2-1 at the Bedok Stadium.

Following a dull first half that failed to produce any clear-cut chances, the Cheetahs went ahead three minutes after the break when Azhar Sairudin lashed home a 25-yard piledriver past Yazid Yasin, only for Geylang to equalise in the 85th minute through a Jozef Kaplan penalty, after Mun Seung-man had been fouled by Ante Barac inside the area.
But with a valuable point within the Eagles' grasp, Hougang went on to net the winner a minute into injury-time when Jordan Webb picked up the ball inside the area and danced past a couple of challenges, before drilling home an effort that Yazid failed to keep out at his near post.

The result means Geylang are still behind second-from-bottom Woodlands Wellington on goal difference, although Salim Moin's charges failed to fare any better in their 2-0 loss to Albirex Niigata at the Jurong East Stadium.
Atsushi Shimono opened the scoring for the White Swans in the 27th minute, before centre-back Kunihiro Yamashita popped up right after the break to grab a second and seal a comfortable win for Koichi Sugiyama's side that sees them tentatively move top of the table.
