Strootman is currently one of the hottest properties in European football after establishing himself as a regular for both his club and the Netherlands national team.
Still only 23, the dynamic midfielder has already skipper both PSV and the Oranje and has long been linked with a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.
However, it now appears his next destination could be Serie A after his agent, Chiel Dekker, confirmed Napoli have been in contact.
"Napoli's interest is pretty serious," he said, according to Voetbal International. "They have already approached us.
"Kevin's focused on the Under-21 Euros for now, though."
However, Dekker did confirm his client ultimately preferred a move to the Barclays Premier League, with Manchester United reportedly monitoring the ex-Utrecht man's progress.
"Kevin's never made it a secret that he has a preference for the Premier League."
Apart from Strootman, Napoli are also said to be keen on PSV winger Dries Merten, a 26-year-old Belgian winger who has netted an impressive 45 goals in 86 games since joining the Eindhoven outfit.
