Roma's hunt for a new manager hit a snag when AC Milan's Massimiliano Allegri chose to stay with the Rossoneri last week, but it appears that they have already set their sights on their next target.
Deschamps revealed that Blanc, who has been out of management since stepping down as France manager a year ago, has been in talks to take charge of Roma.
"I want to wait until it is official, but I know they are on the right track with talks." Deschamps was quoted as saying on Football Italia.
"Laurent wants a bench and a new opportunity to work. Roma are a good club, albeit with a particular type of pressure around them. If it is officially confirmed, then I'm very happy for him."
The reported deal involves a two-year contract with Alain Boghossian and Vincent Candela included as backroom staff.
