Cordoba believes Inter appeals to Falcao

The 36-year-old Nerazzurri hero is now a team manager at the club and made the comment in a recent interview with Inter Channel's Prima Serata.

"It wouldn't be hard to convince him [Falcao]," he said.

"I've known him for a bit and we talked about the possibility of him one day coming here, just as [Fredy] Guarin and I talked about it."

Falcao has scored 27 goals in 28 appearances for Atletico this season and will be one of the most sought after signatures in the summer transfer window.

The Colombia striker signed for Atletico for over €40 million in 2011 from Porto and given his prolific form for Spanish side, the 27-year-old is likely to cost even more at the end of the current campaign.

The transfer fee remains the only stumbling block for Inter.

"The problem is that Falcao's price is now an astronomical one, and at the moment it's difficult to think about signing a player like that," Cordoba said.

Cordoba also reserved his ire for the Italian media for trying to unsettle the club as they attempt to deal with manager Andrea Stramaccioni's recent struggles at the helm.

Inter are four points behind AC Milan and the Champions League places ahead of Sunday's trip to Sampdoria.

"Let's hope for the best. We need to make a new start," he said.

"On the part of the club and myself, I'd like to say enough to all those who want to continue making up stories about us and the people that work for Inter. That's enough, I really mean it. If they want to invent a story then they'll do it anyway, but let them do it with the others.

He added: "We can accept criticism, even the subtle kind right on the edge of disrespect. These things also help us to grow. But we don't like it when things are made up, just as we don't like it when there are attacks on people who work for Inter, whomever they may be. I would really like it to stop."

Cordoba officially became an Italian citizen in 2011.
