The Nerazzurri are now in second position after defeating Napoli 2-1 over the weekend.
They are just four points adrift of league leaders Juventus and many are tipping Andrea Stramaccioni's side to pose a threat to the Bianconeri's hopes of retaining the championship.
Inter and AC Milan are the only two sides to have inflicted a defeat on Juventus this season but the Rossoneri have been far from impressive this term, having already notched up six defeats thus far.
Moratti, however, has probably not forgotten that Inter almost failed to secure qualification for the Europa League last season and told the players to just focus on putting in a good performance
"Dark horses for the title? No, we just take each game as it comes. We try to play well and then it's down to what the other teams do," he told Sky Sports Italia.
"Aside from the performances of certain players - which keep getting better - such as Fredy Guarin, it's great to see that we approach these games in the right way, in the traditions of this football club."
Javier Zanetti echoed similar sentiments and called for humility from his team-mates.
"You can go a long way with humility," the Argentine told Inter Channel.
"In our case it's in the club's DNA, from the president all the way down to each of us.
"Now we must try to be more consistent, especially in the games that look easier on paper. We're on the up again, we must keep going as we are."
He was also happy with the win over the Partenopei, which was impressive especially as Napoli have been one of the in-form sides of the season.
"The most important thing is the way we managed to beat a tough team that runs like clockwork, we won because we showed humility and put in the hard work.
"It's a win that proves we're a strong side, but we know we still have a lot to keep working on."
Inter next face Lazio in the Serie A on Saturday and qualified for the Europa League last-32 last week as well.
