After Alberto Aquilani had given Viola an 10th-minute lead at the San Siro, Pato had an excellent chance to equalise when his side were awarded a spot-kick, yet only managed to blast his effort over the bar.
Borja Valero then went on to double the visitors lead eight minutes after the half-hour mark, and while Giampaolo Pazzini pulled one back for the Rossoneri in the 59th minute, Fiorentina went on to wrap up all three points when Mounir El Hamdaoui added a third three minutes from time.
Nonetheless, Bojan insists his Brazilian team-mate is not to blame for the costly miss and praised him for stepping up to the spot in the first place.
"I don't want to talk about that particular action as the one that changed the game," he said on the club's official website.
"Pato is the penalty taker. You can only miss them if you have the courage to take them.
"He's a good penalty taker and it was right that he took it."
The Spaniard, who is currently on loan from Roma, also insisted his side more than enough chances to get back into the game even with the penalty miss.
"If we equalised in the first half, things could have been different," Bojan added.
"But we wasted a few chances to turn the game around."
Massimiliano Allegri's side will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they visit third-placed Napoli.
