De Rossi has spent his entire career with the Giallorossi but has long been linked with a move away, with reports suggesting Manchester City came close to signing him last season.
More recently, PSG have been rumoured to be interested in the Italy international and Ancelotti did little to quell the speculation, after coyly replying to questions about his interest in the player.
"I think De Rossi is a great player," he told Radio Monte Carlo. "I was surprised by the fact that he did not play [in Roma's last game against Atalanta], but it was only a temporary decision.
"He's a great midfielder, it is normal to be approached by PSG as we are one of the few clubs that can spend big money in the market, but the market is closed.
"At least he can talk [to PSG] in January."
De Rossi has played over 390 games for Roma since making his debut in the 2001/02 season and was part of the Italy side that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
