The Stadio Olimpico outfit continued their decent run of form with a 3-0 win away to Pescara on Sunday and the Biancocelesti, who have now won five of their last seven Serie A fixtures, currently occupy third place in the league, four points behind current leaders Juventus.
Although it is still early days in the league, Hernanes has already expressed his belief that Lazio would do better than their fourth placed finish last season and even considers his side to be genuine title contenders.
Speaking to Globo Esporte, the 27-year-old said: "The start of the season, for me, has been great.
"I believe the strength of our team is our desire to win, and we have to continue like this. We can't relax for a moment.
"We must keep this mindset to continue to win, and stay within reach of the top of the League."
A large part of Lazio's good start to the season has been down to Hernanes himself; the former Sao Paulo player has already scored four and provided three assists this season and he attributes his sparkling form to having finally acclimatised to league, as well as to a change in position.
"After two years here, I feel much more at ease, and now things come to me more naturally," Hernanes added.
"During the first two seasons, I played in the centre of midfield, and that was a good thing because I learned a lot from that position.
"Now I am playing slightly behind the strikers, and I can do what I like. This way, I can assist goals and see a lot more of the ball."
Lazio will face one of their biggest tests of the Serie A season so far when they take on AC Milan in their next league fixture.
