Juve capped off the pre-season with goals from Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Alessandro Matri to seal the club's tenth Berlusconi Trophy at the San Siro.
First-team coach Carrera, who made his debut on the bench in last weekend's Super Cup victory against Napoli because of manager Antonio Conte's current ban, believes the players coped well to finish on top despite a brace from Milan's Robinho.
"We played a good game, especially considering yesterday's [Saturday] heavy workload and the hot conditions," Carrera told Juventus Channel.
"The lads stuck to what we worked on in training and did what we've asked of them. We're a team, we work as a unit and the results are a testament of this."
Carrera also singled out youngsters Paul Pogba, who was selected to perform the holding midfield role on Sunday, and defender Luca Marrone for praise.
"Marrone and Pogba did well, even though they're both young and still need to improve," he said.
"I'm also happy about how both strike partnerships performed."
Juve kick-off their Serie A title defence on Saturday when Parma visit the Juventus Stadium.
