After selling Fabio Borini to Liverpool in a deal worth 13.5 million Euros, Roma are desperate to sign a new forward to bolster their attack. Destro has been on the club's radar since the end of the last campaign, and the Giallorossi have now made their move by reaching an agreement with Genoa for the Italian.
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is expected to meet Destro's agent, Renzo Contratto, within the next few days to discuss personal terms. In the meantime, the Giallorossi board will continue negotiations with Siena, the other club who co-own the player.
Highly rated in the Serie A after scoring 12 goals in the previous season, Destro has also attracted the interest of Inter Milan, Juventus, and AC Milan. The Rossoneri are believed to be contemplating a bid for the striker, with the departure of top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic looking increasingly likely.
According the sources in the Italian media, Genoa are likely to expend six million Euros to buy Destro outright from Siena, before requesting 12 million Euro bid from Roma. Siena are expected to pocket a 4.7 million Euro profit from the deal.
