Lavezzi joined Napoli from San Lorenzo in 2007 and recently finalised his transfer to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain following weeks of speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
Cannavaro, who started out his illustrious career in Napoli, acknowledged Lavezzi's contributions to his home town club but played down suggestions that the Naples club would struggle without the striker, suggesting that the remaining players could step up and fill the gap Lavezzi left behind.
"Lavezzi is an extraordinary player," the former Real Madrid stopper told Radio CRC.
"He has done great things at Napoli, but if the club has made this choice it is because they have players worthy of contributing just as much - players like Goran Pandev, Eduardo Vargas and Lorenzo Insigne.
"The Partenopei will not weep for Lavezzi."
Lavezzi was an integral part of Napoli last season as he plundered in 11 goals and assisted another 11 to help the club to a 5th place finish in the Serie A and achieve an Italian Cup victory.
