Roma have made two signings so far in the transfer window - acquiring Dodo from Corinthians and tying down Marquinho's stay at the club.

However, it pales in comparison to the hive of transfer activities that clubs like AC Milan and Juventus have been involved in.

Totti urged Roma president Thomas DiBenedetto to add reinforcements to the team which finished seventh last season for them to challenge at the top again under new manager Zdenek Zeman.

"We already have quite a good team, but we could do with some new additions. We need some important signings in order to be able to compete for the Scudetto with Juventus, AC Milan and Inter," Totti stated at a press conference.

"I won't go into names, but you definitely need big players if you want to win something. Let's wait and see what happens."

"Are Roma in for a transitional year? I don't think the fans want another year like last term."

Roma's seventh-placed finish sees them without European football this season after Italy's UEFA coefficients saw them lose a spot in both the Champions League and the Europa League.
