Borini's goal took place barely three minutes after kick-off, as the Italian striker pounced on a blunder by Palermo's Ezequiel Munoz. Mutti told Sky Sport Italia that his team struggled to recover their belief after going behind so early in the game.
"Unfortunately we got caught cold for the goal and we immediately struggled on a mental level, the goal had great influence on our mental state." He said.
The Palermo head coach bemoaned the manner in which his players lost their composure, effectively preventing them from carrying out his game plan.
"Rather than attack spaces, our midfield was often bypassed and we played that way throughout the match. We found it difficult to keep the ball." Mutti stated.
This result marks Palermo's third successive loss, though they retain ninth place in the Serie A table.
