Poli joined the Nerazzurri on a season-long loan in the summer from Sampdoria, but was initially hampered by injury problems.
However, he has since recovered and has been impressive in his few appearances in an Inter jersey, leading to suggestions the club could look to sign him on a permanent deal, something the player himself would welcome.
"It's an exciting feeling to pull on the Inter shirt and I hope to be able to do it for many years," Poli told Inter Channel. "San Siro is wonderful with the fans who are always behind us and I want to thank them for welcoming me here.
"I like Inter because it's a club that wants to win things. I felt comfortable here right from the start, especially with president [Massimo] Moratti: he's a very intelligent person and someone you take to immediately, a great man.
"I get on well with all the players, I really do, although there's obviously a stronger bond with the players I knew at Sampdoria."
Poli will be looking to continue to impress when Inter entertain Novara on Sunday.
