The Argentina international striker played an influential role in Napoli's surprise third-placed finish in Serie A last season.
"It's true. I did talk to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is a dear friend, about Lavezzi," Moratti told Corriere dello Sport.
"He has great talent and an excellent change of pace, but the player is very attached to Napoli."
Moratti also admitted he was glad to see right-back Maicon return to the side following an injury as he sees the Brazilian as an integral part of the Inter Milan machine.
"Having him back in the side after injury is very important," Moratti said.
"Offers did arrive over the summer for him, but we never took them into consideration. He's an essential player for us."
Lavezzi is valued at €32 million by the San Paolo-based club and was the top summer transfer target of the recently sacked Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
