The Italy midfielder, who was a reported target of Manchester City this summer, has been locked in talks with Roma about a new deal for the last six months with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.
"We are still in the negotiation phase but I am convinced that we will arrive at a situation that will please all parties," De Rossi told reporters at Wenesday's national team press conference in Coverciano.
"I hope to play at the highest level in Italy for a further five years and then, if there is an opportunity to go abroad, I would consider it."
Reports in Rome claim the 28-year-old De Rossi wants his wages increased to 6.5million euros (£5.6million) per year.
"That annoys me," De Rossi said.
"Sometimes figures that are not correct come out on the media.
"In any case, I only speak to my agent and I don't intend to talk about the negotiations in a press conference."
