After a shock loss to Trabzonspor in the Champions League earlier this week, Gasperini had been under pressure to deliver results, and was heartened by his side's ability to create chances, despite failing to defeat Roma.
"I saw a good Inter that created plenty of chances," Gasperini said to Sky Sport Italia.
"We played against a great team that conceded very little in terms of space.
"Two nights ago we played in a hard-fought match [against Trabzonspor that Inter lost 1-0], but tonight we have seen an improvement in our display."
He also gave an insight towards the thoughts on the game, and the tactics involved.
"The first part of the match saw [Yuto] Nagatomo get into great spaces for us, but then we had to raise our defensive game and stifle [Daniele] De Rossi," he explained.
"[Diego] Forlan did a lot but [Diego] Milito did not offer much. I introduced [Sulley] Muntari because I felt we needed another midfielder, as [Wesley] Sneijder was bright but he struggled in the middle.
"After I made those changes, we had the best opportunities, and even though we didn't score, let's treat this match as a positive."
Despite the morale-boosting draw, Inter Milan still languish in 13th spot on the Serie A after picking up their first point of the season.
