Gilardino was tipped to join either Genoa or Napoli in the last transfer window but a deal failed to materialise.
The Italy international remains a part of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic's plans and he repaid his manager's faith in him by scoring in their 2-0 win over Bologna at the weekend.
"I spoke with [owner] Andrea Della Valle yesterday," Gilardino told reporters in a post-match interview.
"Now I am only thinking about Fiorentina and doing well in Florence.
"We will see if between now and December there will be an opportunity to have a certain talk."
The 29-year-old scored 12 goals in 35 games for Fiorentina last season after making the move from AC Milan in 2008.
