Brazil's national team doctor Jose Luis Runco will perform the operation on the World Player of the Year.
The Rossoneri issued a statement on club website www.acmilan.com late on Thursday evening which read: "AC Milan communicates that the footballer Kaka will on Friday be subjected to an arthroscopy on his left knee."
He added: "The times of recovery will be made known at the end of the operation which will be done by professor Runco."
The 26-year-old travelled to Brazil earlier this week to see a specialist about his condition.
He is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks, making him ineligible for Brazil's upcoming friendlies with Canada and Venezuela and possibly next month's World Cup qualifiers away to Paraguay and at home to Argentina.
