The victory in Genoa was the Rossoneri's third-successive Serie A victory - the first time that has happened all season.
With six games remaining, Milan are 11th in the standings and five points adrift of city rivals Inter Milan, who hold the last Europa League qualifying spot.
"We are closer to the Europa League positions," Seedorf said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "That is the objective of the club and we will try to achieve it.
"But we cannot forget there are many teams fighting to finish in the top five and closer than us to that target.
"We just have to keep going and see what happens.
"What interests me is for my team to get as many points as possible from here until the end of the season.
"We are not in a position worthy of Milan and we must continue to work and improve."
Seedorf was delighted to see Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda finally score his first goal in Serie A.
Honda, who joined the Rossoneri from CSKA Moscow in January, struck the winner against Genoa.
"I am very happy for Honda," Seedorf said. "It was important as he broke his duck and scored just when Genoa were pushing hard for the equaliser.
"Honda has improved in every game and he played very well against Genoa.
"My compliments go to him and I hope this goal will be the first of many.
"To score in Serie A is always a satisfaction."
Milan are next up against Catania at home on Sunday.
