Diamanti pens five-year Bologna extension

Alessandro Diamanti has committed his future to Bologna for five years after extending his contract with the Serie A club.

The former West Ham attacking midfielder, 30, has scored 14 goals for the Rossoblu since joining in 2011 and his impressive performances in the 2012-13 season earned him a place in Italy's Confederations Cup squad.

A statement published on Bologna's official website read: "Bologna have reached a mutual agreement with Alessandro Diamanti to extend his contract until June 30, 2018."

Diamanti, who also numbers Brescia and Livorno among his former clubs, is known for his playmaking ability and his prowess from free-kicks.
