Tevez revealed that he was considering retirement while playing for Manchester City, citing a lack of motivation to play football as a factor before Juventus swooped in for him over the summer.
Nedved, who is now a director at Juve, believes that Tevez will excel at the club and has no doubts over the Argentine's ability to perform at the top level.
"We talked to Carlos a long time ago," the former Bianconero midfielder commented. "He still has a lot of desire to play football and to do well.
"You can see that enthusiasm in the way he has been training with us.
"Great players, once they have won a lot, need new motivation, new targets and I am happy that he has arrived.
"He instantly demonstrated that he wanted to join us and I liked that a lot."
