The 33-year-old has joined the Emilia-Romagna club, who are second from bottom and six points from safety, on a free transfer until the end of the season.
A statement from the club read: “Cesena announce they have acquired the sporting rights of Belgian midfielder Gaby Mudingayi until June 30, 2015. The player is already working under coach Domenico Di Carlo.”
Mudingayi returns to Italy’s top flight just six months after leaving Inter Milan. He had been looking for a new club since his proposed move to Spanish side Elche collapsed earlier this month due to the club’s financial troubles.
The former Lazio player could make his Cesena debut in Sunday’s Serie A clash against leaders Juventus.
