In what turned out to be a real thriller at the Jalan Besar Stadium, the White Swans took the lead in the 26th minute when Shingo Suzuki lined up a freekick and fired home and effort that Hassan Sunny got a hand to but failed to keep out.
Three minutes after the break, Kazuki Sakamoto made it 2-0 when he applied the finishing touches to an excellent team move, but the Warriors pulled one back a minute later when he bundled a loose ball home from close range.
But right on the hour mark, Albirex restored their two-goal advantage when Bruno Castanheira netted from the spot after he had been brought down inside the area by Zulfadli Zainal Abidin, but V. Selvaraj's charges were then awarded a penalty of their own ten minutes later after substitute Sufian Anuar had been fouled inside the area.
Mislav Karoglan stepped up and clinically fired home from 12 yards to reduce the deficit once more but despite creating a plethora of chances in the closing stages, the Warriors were unable to find the equaliser as Albirex held on for all three points.
In Friday's other game, DPMM FC got back to winning ways and inflicted a second straight defeat on Home United after running out 2-0 winners at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
With just eight minutes on the clock, the Bruneian outfit took the lead when Tales dos Santos rose highest inside the area to head home Rosmin Kamis' corner, but it took Home less than a minute to equalise when Masrezwan Masturi netted after good work in the build-up by Hafiz Rahim.
DPMM did however regain the lead three minutes before the half-hour mark through another set-piece when Adi Said nodded home, but in the 87th minute, the Protectors looked like they had forced the draw when Jordan Webb beat the offside trap and raced through to score.
But as the clock ticked over into injury-time, Dos Santos had the final say when he pounced on a rebound and fired the ball past a hapless Shahril Jantan to hand the hosts all three points.
