Heading into the game knowing anything defeat would hand the title to leaders Tampines Rovers, Vjeran Simunic's men had an excellent opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty in the sixth minute after Zulkarnain Malik brought Patrick da Silva down inside the area.
However, Croatian midfielder Ivan Jerkovic could only watch as his effort was saved by Ahmadulhaq Che Omar and his miss proved costly in the 26th minute when Guntur Djafril met a good cross from Moon Soon-ho and headed the Rams into the lead.
Nonetheless, DPMM remained undeterred despite falling behind and pulled level two minutes before the break when Sairol Sahari whipped in a good ball for Shahrazen Said to convert with a firm header.
The Bruneian outfit continued to pile on the pressure after the break and Woodlands' resistance finally crumbled in the 69th minute when Rosmin Kamis' long pass failed to pick out any of his team-mates, but instead sailed straight into the back of the net past a dumbfounded Ahmadulhaq.
With the win, DPMM are now four points behind Tampines with two games remaining, while the Stags only have one more match to play in the final week of the season.
