With the Rams currently struggling in the league, the Singapore Cup offered them a chance to give their fans something to cheer about.

However, it took their Burmese opponents only three minutes to take the lead in Saturday's game at the Jalan Besar Stadium when Soe Min Oo opened the scoring, before Tercio Nunez doubled their lead on the hour mark from the spot, after Danny Chew had tripped Soe inside the area.

Woodlands pulled one back through Moon Soon-ho three minutes later after Kanbawza conceded a penalty of their own, but they were unable to find another goal to force extra-time and were sent tumbling out of the competition.

Kanbawza will now Loyola Meralco Sparks in the quarterfinals, after the Filipino side saw off Geylang United 2-1 on Friday evening.
