Following a goalless first half at the Queenstown Stadium, it was the Eagles who took the lead in Wednesday's Great Eastern-YEO's S.League clash two minutes after the hour mark, when Shotaro Ihata met Jalal's corner with a firm header that smashed off Ismael Benahmed before sailing past a stunned Aurelien Herisson.
Three minutes from time, Geylang looked to have wrapped up the three points when Jozef Kaplan raced onto Stefan Milojevic's incisive through-ball and fired home, only for the strike to be chalked off by the linesman's flag even though the Slovak appeared to have been level with the last defender when he initially made his run.
And in the final minute of the game, that decision was made even more crucial as Tanjong Pagar pulled level after poor defending from the visitors saw the ball drop to Kamel Ramdani, who drilled a shot into the back of the net despite Taufiq Ghani's best efforts to keep it out.
The result was enough to tentatively send the Jaguars back up to third, a point ahead of Home United, while Geylang remain in 10th although the point they earned guarantees they can no longer finish inside the bottom two.
