Heading into the game looking to strengthen their grip on fourth spot, the Tigers took the lead in the 16th minute when Singapore international Qiu Li converted from the spot.

However, with nine minutes remaining, Brazilian defender Tales dos Santos popped up to net his fourth league goal of the season to earn his share of the spoils.

But despite failing to hang on to all three points, Balestier did manage to extend their unbeaten run in the league to nine games, with their last defeat all the way back at the start of May when they were beaten 3-1 by Woodlands Wellington.

In Wednesday's other game, Tampines Rovers gave away a two-goal lead and then netted an 88th-minute equaliser to force a 3-3 draw against second-placed Albirex Niigata (S) and stay eight points clear at the top of the table.

The Stags took the lead in the 18th minute when Aleksandar Duric scored on the rebound after his initial header had been saved by Hiroaki Hara, before Fahrudin Mustafic made it 2-0 five minutes later when he nodded home Vitor Ladeiras' corner.

But Albirex rallied and pulled one back in the 35th minute when Kento Nagasaki coolly fired past Ridhuan Barudin from inside the box, before the scores were level on the stroke of halftime after Kazuki Sakamoto headed Shingo Suzuki's left-wing cross into the bottom corner.

The White Swans then remarkably took the lead in the 75th minute through a clinical strike by Shingo Suzuki, but two minutes from time, Hara inexplicably dropped a routine catch to allow Duric to fire home the equaliser.
