Miranda signs new deal with Atletico
Brazil defender Joao Miranda has agreed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid to keep him at the club until 2016.
The 28-year-old, who signed from Sao Paolo in 2011, has emerged as a key part of the Atletico team that has won the Europa League and
UEFA Super Cup in the past 12 months, while sitting second in the Primera Division, above local rivals Real Madrid.
His form has also seen him receive a call-up from Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari and a chance to add to his seven caps.
"I am very happy," Miranda told the club's website. "I have been working to earn a new contract and I think this is a good deal for both parties. I feel great at Atletico, it feels like home. Madrid is a city I love. I am very happy here."
