Karanka unimpressed with Real finishing

Real Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka is frustrated his team made life much more difficult than it should have been in Sunday's 2-1 win over Celta Vigo.

Real may have returned to second place and 13 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in La Liga with the victory, but it was a scrappy encounter as a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo was just enough to see off Iago Aspas' strike.

Real never got going early on with Diego Lopez forced into a string of saves in the first 10 minutes while Celta substitute Park Chu-young almost grabbed a late-equaliser but his headed effort smashed onto the crossbar instead of into goal.

"In the first half hour we struggled to get into it, but in the second half we controlled the match and created more chances," Karanka was quoted as saying on the Real website.

He added: "In the first 20 minutes or half an hour, the whole team struggled to get into the match."

"They [Celta] played with a high defensive line and caught us offside a few times and we could not find a way pass. In the last fifteen minutes, and for part of the second half, the team controlled the match and we had more chances.

"The problem is that, perhaps, when we could have killed off the match, the goals didn't come. And they have had the opportunity to equalise".

Real moved up to second following Atletico Madrid's 1-0 home loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday.
