Vela joined Real Sociedad this season for a fee of £3.5m but reports of him making a return to the London side on a buy back clause have emerged in Spain but the Mexico international was quick to clarify that he is happy with his career at his current club.

"I've never regretted signing for Real and the results prove me right." he was quoted as saying on Marca.

"I think my decision to stay at Real is looking more and more like the right one. I've never regretted coming back. I came because I trusted the team and I thought we could get better.

"After being here for a year and knowing what my teammates are like on and off the pitch, it makes it easier to decide whether to stay or go to a new team, where you don't know what's going to happen. The team has proven that it is very good, that we have excellent players and we can compete with anyone," he added.

Real Sociedad are currently sixth in La Liga and are set for European football at this rate, but Vela believes that they will improve on it and do more in the future.

Vela believes that Real Sociedad can still do better. "I'm talking about giving more, not just this season, but over the coming years. I think the team can improve even more. We can do better than we are now," he said.

Vela has scored 11 league goals in 24 appearances for Real Sociedad this season.
