The striker has less than a year left on his contract and opted recently to rebuff contract negotiations with the club. The long-drawn saga has turned a number of fans against him and coach Marcelo Bielsa has also denied him regular first-team action.
But in an interview conducted by Sky Sports La Liga specialist Guillem Balague on the latter's website, Llorente revealed that he is still focused on helping Bilbao do well in the league. Furthermore, he blamed the negative image portrayed by the media during the contract talks over the summer for influencing him to choose to move away from the club.
A number of clubs across Europe have been linked with the Spain international and Bilbao are expected to offer the player for a cut-price sum during the January transfer window as otherwise they could risk losing him for a free transfer next summer.
"I think that, after everything that has happened, looking for another team is going to make me grow as a person.," Llorente told Balague .
"I made the decision at the start of the season. I remember we were playing a play-off game in the Europa League at San Mames and I noticed a significant deterioration in the relationship between the fans and me due to the whole way in which my contract negotiations were going.
"Everything the press had said about me in the newspapers was pejorative and they had succeeded in turning the fans against me.
"When I really became aware of how that situation had affected the people I made the decision.
"I haven't lost the desire or the hope of being able to continue contributing to Athletic."
The Spaniard is not really letting the prospect of moving to a new club distract him from his football but he did reiterate his interest in the Premier League.
"It is true that we are approaching the date when I can sign for other clubs. I'm trying to keep it so that it is something which is managed by my brother and my representatives and that leaves me to focus on my football and help my team, Athletic.
"I really like [the Premier League] and [it] is a league which appeals to me a lot and you never know. It's one good option in terms of my future but we'll have to wait until the end of the season to see what happens.
"That's totally untrue [that I'm joining Juventus]. I think it's normal that people talk about these things but ultimately you have to respect the rules.
"I am an Athletic player and, until the 1st of January I cannot sign with any other team."
