Falcao's became the first player to score five goals in a La Liga match since Fernando Morientes managed the same feat against Las Palmas in 2002 - a feat which both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are yet to achieve.
The goals meant that Falcao is now the top scorer in La Liga with 19 goals in 15 games and more signigicantly, helped Atletico bounce back from a derby defeat to Real Madrid the previous weekend.
"It was an unforgettable evening," Falcao admitted to AS. "I did not expect many goals mark but our team play must be emphasised.
"It's nice to be the only player to ever score five goals and I'm very excited to be involved in the club's history.
"We are growing mentally and on the field the team is strong," the Colombian said. "The week was not easy, but we knew we had to do what we always do."
The Colombia international played down comparisons to Ronaldo and Messi, who broke Gerd Muller's record of goals scored in a calendar year hours after Falcao's feat.
"I do not think about being as big as Ronaldo or Messi," he insisted. "My dream is to make and grow."
