Marcelo is set to return to Real action next month after suffering the injury while training back in October.
The 24-year-old Brazil international is considered among the world's best in the position currently, alongside Chelsea's Ashley Cole and Bayern Munich's Philipp Lahm, who plays as a right-back as well.
However, Marcelo believes he has no equal.
"I think I am the best left-back in the world because I have to believe in myself," Marcelo told Globoesporte.
"I have to think about myself and continue growing [as a player]."
Marcelo also revealed that his idol and fellow countryman Roberto Carlos has served as an inspirational figure to him during his time out of the game.
"I felt my foot buckle," Marcelo said.
"My legs were shaking but I did not think the injury was that bad.
"[Roberto Carlos] is my idol, everybody knows that. Even today, when I talk to him I get nervous. He was always the best."
Carlos played over 580 games wearing the Madrid shirt during an explosive career which included over 70 goals for the Spanish giants.
