Betis goalkeeper Miguel Adrian's botched clearance made it easy for Reyes to score his first after the ball came his way just outside the penalty box.
Reyes was delighted with this goal in particular as he said after the game, "It truly was a complete night, for Sevilla, its fans, and for me. I don't think I have ever scored such a quick goal."
The former Arsenal striker scored another after an Alvaro Negredo shot rebounded off the bar and fell kindly in his direction. Federico Fazio scored a brace as well through two well-taken headers ensuring that Sevilla had a 4-0 lead by the end of half-time.
Los Rojiblancos coach Michel Gonzalez was delighted with that first-half showing as well.
"I have never seen anything like that first half, it was spectacular. I take my hat off to all my players," he said.
The result ensured that Sevilla stayed in seventh place with 18 points, two points behind fourth-placed Levante.
