Real Madrid currently have a depleted backline, with Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao out injured and Alvaro Arbeloa only recently returning from injury.
As a result, Los Blancos have been forced to play Michael Essien as a full back and Ramos revealed that the situation could have been worse as he is not fully fit either. However he is playing through the pain barrier for his Real team mates.
"Yes, it's true that I don't feel 100%," he told Marca.
"I'm not fully fit because of these muscle pains, but now isn't the time to stop because we have injuries to key players in defence and we have to be there, as a team",
The Spain international insisted that Real Madrid have a unique history because of the trophies they have won and can be considered the best club in the world.
"The identity the club has forged throughout the years makes it unique," he told AS.
"It is the best club in the world even if it is not everyone's favourite. But, this is the reality. The great players who have been here and the titles they have won have given prestige to this club."
Ramos also revealed that a career in football was not always his first choice when growing up - he was eyeing a career as a bullfighter when he was young.
"When you're young, it is important to have dreams," he added.
"I always wanted to be either a bullfighter or footballer but my mother was a little scared of me becoming a bullfighter. So I opted for football which was less dangerous."
