Barcelona have made a strong start to their season so far and currently top the La Liga standings with 22 points from eight games.

The Catalan giants also maintained a perfect start to their Champions League campaign with a hard fought 2-1 win over Celtic on Tuesday night, and the recent positive results have given Pique cause for optimism, who believes his side could not have made a better start to their season.

"We've had a great start. We've won a lot of games and we're currently leaders," Pique was quoted as saying by the official Barcelona website.

It's true that a couple of our matches have been tough, but the team is playing well. We couldn't have started the season any better.

"There is a good connection in the team and I think we'll have a great season.

"If we're able to win [in Scotland], our job [in the group stage] will be complete."

Pique has not featured for the Blaugrana for the past seven games owing to a sprained ankle sustained in the match against Spartak Moscow, but the Spain international gave a positive update on his recovery from injury.

"I'm feeling good, much better.

"I did everything I could to play against Madrid, but in the end we decided to not run any risks.

"When my foot responds well, I'll start to train."

Barcelona will take on Rayo Vallecano in their next La Liga fixture.
