Tied at the top with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona are currently one of the two unbeaten teams in La Liga.

With defending champions Real Madrid lodged in fifth place, Fabregas told TV3 that the Catalans will focus their efforts on maintaining their lead over Jose Mourinho's squad.

"If somebody had offered us this advantage at the start of the season then we would have signed there and then," he stated.

"It's great,
and now we have to continue with the same mentality."

The former Arsenal player endured criticism from the Spanish media earlier in the season for some inconsistent performances. Nonetheless, Fabregas maintained that he never allowed the negative comments to get to him.

"Neither before are you a bad player nor now, when everything is going well, are you a superstar," he added.

"You always need to be as calm as possible, be hardworking and disciplined, and the results will come."

Barcelona's Eric Abidal returned to training yesterday [Wednesday] after recuperating from his liver transplant operation and the Spaniard marvelled at his team-mate's comeback.

"It is spectacular for a person to return after what he has been through," Fabregas remarked.

"If I had something like that, I would be down for a long time but he takes it with normality, with patience and he is so positive that it is worthy of admiration."

Barcelona travel to Deportivo La Coruna for their next La Liga fixture.
