Alba is currently one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe after two consistent seasons with Valencia, helping them to consecutive third-place finishes in La Liga.
His performances have seen him earn a place in Spain's 23-man squad for Euro 2012 despite having earned just four caps for Vicente Del Bosque's side, and the 23-year-old has regularly been linked with a move away from the Mestalla.
And while Manchester United are reportedly very keen on securing Alba's services, Vazquez now admits Barca, who are in the hunt for a left-sided defender following the recent retirement of Eric Abidal, are likely to table a bid in the upcoming transfer window.
"I suppose Barcelona want him because he's Catalan and plays on the left wing," he told Radio Galega.
"We are obviously talking about an excellent player, and it's only normal that Barcelona are keen to sign him."
According to various reports, the Catalan giants are eager to complete the transfer as soon as possible to avoid having to pay an inflated fee should Alba enhance his growing reputation at the European Championship, and are hoping Los Che will be willing to accept a bid in the region of €15million.
Alba is equally capable of playing in midfield and formed a formidable partnership with Jeremy Mathieu down the left this past season, and it appears Valencia have already made a move to fill the void he potentially could leave by signing Mexican winger Andres Guardado from Deportivo La Coruna.
