Villarreal celebrate second
Villarreal moved 10 points clear of third-placed Barcelona following a clinical 2-0 victory over struggling Espanyol in the Primera Liga on Sunday night.
Javi Venta and Robert Pires scored the goals in the first half to pile the misery on an Espanyol team who have now not won for nine matches.
Manuel Pellegrini's side are now eight points adrift of champions Real Madrid, but their total of 74 points is only two less than Madrid's title-winning haul last season, and there is still one round of the championship remaining.
