Simeone hungry for more success

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone remains insatiably hungry for success following Sunday's convincing 3-0 victory over Primera Division giants Valencia.

Raul Garcia's second-half goal was sandwiched by a brace from Diego Costa to keep Atletico tied at the top of the table with reigning champions Barcelona.

Simeone's men have now scored 12 goals in three La Liga games without conceding.

Mid-table Levante are next up at the Vicente Calderon in the Primera Division and the home team's boss fired an early warning that there is much more to come from his goal-hungry side.

The Argentinian told the club's official website: "I want to win and I always want more, in all situations.

"I do not like playing passively and I want us to keep trying to go forward. That is how the team will look to progress."

Simeone now has "stratospheric" Barca firmly in his sights as the Madrid club find themselves well-placed to challenge for their first Spanish title since 1996.

"They've been a great team in the last decade with some incredible statistics," he said.

"In the first half of last season they only dropped two points. They are without (Lionel) Messi but continue to win with ease.

"They are a tough team to chase down, though, and have accrued some stratospheric numbers."

Miroslav Djukic, meanwhile, is struggling to hold onto his job on the Valencia bench but insists he has what it takes to drag Los Che out of ninth and towards the European places.

"I fear nothing," the Serbian told Marca. "I'm a football coach, and all I have to do is work hard and do my best for the team.

"I'm trying to get the team to function, nothing more, and I feel qualified to do so."

Valencia's next league test arrives in the form of Real Madrid, who are pushing Barca and Atletico hard for the title and who won 5-0 at the Mestalla last season.

Djukic added: "I feel capable of pulling this off. I've just got to keep working hard with the team."
