President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has resolutely stated that the Ligue 1 champions have no intentions of adding the Argentine footballer to the ranks of PSG's front-line of strikers.
A buy-out clause in Lionel Messi’s contract means that any interested team would need to pay a whopping £210m to get the Barcelona striker on board.
Al-Khelaifi was quoted in saying: “I haven’t spoken to Messi because I’m not interested. You would have to ask the Barça [resident (If he is available), not me.”
He stressed that the amount was far too high for the club to pay and feared it would also be in breach of FIFA’s financial fair play regulations.
He added: “I won’t pay what they say he’s worth. I’m a realist and that amount is unrealistic. I’m not thinking about the possibility at all.”
The current record for transfer fees still belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo at £94m, closely followed by team-mate Gareth Bale at £93m. Other notables in the list include Zinedine Zidane, Zalatan Ibrahimovic and AC Milan’s Kaka.
