Dropped from the starting line-up by former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho in favour of Lopez, Casillas was expected to win his place back under new manager Carlo Ancelotti after impressing in the Confederations Cup for Spain, but has found himself on the bench for Los Blancos' first two La Liga matches.
The saga has been given plenty of coverage by Spanish newspapers, as Casillas is revered by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Speaking to El Larguero, Arbeloa insisted that the squad was behind both custodians and hoped the team would keep their focus on achieving results.
"The season is very long, it's 11 months, so there's plenty of time for everyone to help out. Iker is our captain and he has a lot of experience but he should be an equal. I understand and support Iker, but we are professionals. Whoever plays will have our support, and the fans should do the same," he pointed out.
"The debate is out there but it is the reporters who are more interested in it. We're calm. We must respect the coach's decisions. We have to focus on the team. We already have too many enemies without trying to kill each other!"
Real's pursuit of Tottenham's Gareth Bale has also dominated the headlines worldwide, but the club's former general manager Jorge Valdano believed Carlo Ancelotti's squad already possessed the sufficient attacking talent in the form Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil.
"If they gave me the choice I would put the Ozil-Di María pairing before Bale," he shared with The Daily Mail.
"I would certainly put Ozil before Bale, maybe between Bale and Di Maria there are more doubts."
Real Madrid welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Santiago Bernabeu for the teams' La Liga fixture this Sunday.
