Mourinho remains a firm favourite with the Stamford Bridge faithful after leading Chelsea to two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two Capital One Cups during his tenure with the club from 2004 to 2007.
The Portuguese is widely expected to leave current club Real Madrid at the end of the season following a turbulent, and potentially trophyless, season which saw the 50-year-old tactician reportedly fall out with several of the team's senior stars like Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.
With current Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez recently confirming his exit from the club at the end of the season, many have tipped Mourinho to re-join the Blues, and Ba claims several players in the Blues dressing room are already eagerly anticipating the return of "The Special One".
"The players at Chelsea are all talking about the situation and telling stories about when Jose was at the club before," Ba was quoted as saying by the Sun.
"They are fans of his and love him as a person and as a coach. He is still greatly appreciated here."
Chelsea will take on Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League fixture on Tuesday, a game which will prove pivotal in the race for a spot in the top four.
