Ramires was part of the Chelsea squad which defied the odds to win the Champions League last season as the Blues created history with their first ever triumph in the competition.

Despite spending lavishly this season to bring in the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin, Chelsea have thus far failed to hit the heights of last season, being eliminated from the Champions League during the group stages and falling way off the pace in their chase for the Premier League title.

Nonetheless, Chelsea still have the FA Cup and the Europa League to play for, and Ramires believes the Blues can use last season's unlikely Champions League triumph to spur themselves for a strong finish to the current campaign.

"It was around this time last year that everybody was telling us the season was lost already and we wouldn't win anything, and we all know how that ended," Ramires told the Daily Star.

"We are fighting for two competitions and we also need to make sure we get back in the Champions League, which means we have to finish in the top four.

"So until the last game is over, and there are no chances left for us to do anything, we will try to make sure we win something, as well as make our supporters happy.

"If there is any chance, even the smallest, the fans can know that we will be trying our best and we will never give up."

Chelsea will take on Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
