Gerrard has been a constant fixture in the Liverpool squad ever since he made his debut for the Reds nearly 14 years ago; the England international has led the club to numerous successes, most notably leading Liverpool to a Champions League triumph in 2005, and is widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the world.
Suso, who has thus far made 11 appearances for the Reds, is still a long way off to reaching the heights which Gerrard has managed to hit in his illustrious career, but the Spain Under-21 midfielder is already dreaming of emulating the Liverpool legend.
When asked who his footballing role model was, Suso told the official Liverpool website: "I would say Gerrard. I think he is one of the best players in the world.
"He has been playing in the Liverpool first team since he was as young as 18 years old and he is still playing.
"I see him every morning in training and he always wants to improve, even though he is the best player already and he has won so much at this club.
"So I think this is why he is one of the best examples for young players."
Forward Dani Pacheco echoed his countryman's appraisal of Gerrard.
"I can't say any different [to Suso] - at this club, Stevie is the model for everyone," Pacheco declared.
"He has come through the Academy and has achieved plenty. But he is trying to achieve even more. And that is amazing.
"When you see a player at that level, who still wants to improve more and more, you think to yourself, 'I have to fight everyday to get near to that level' and I know I have to fight to play for this club."
Unlike Suso, Pacheco has not been able to get much game time under his belt but the 21-year-old is determined to work hard to break into the team and is eager to make the most of any first-team opportunities which may come his way.
"I haven't played as much as I would like this season, but in football things can change very quickly," Pacheco added.
"Look at what's happened with Suso. He was given a chance and he took it.
"He has worked really hard and has been playing every week. He is doing very well and I'm happy for him.
"I must try to do the same. I hope I'll get a chance and then it's down to me to take it."
Liverpool are in action against Switzerland outfit Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday, before they take on Swansea on Sunday in their next Premier League fixture.
