Earlier reports from England indicated that Arsenal would be making an offer for a striker in the January transfer window, with Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Llorente heading Gunners manager Arsene Wenger's shopping list.

Serie A champions Juventus have also maintained an interest in Llorente since the summer, and the club's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta admitted to Tuttosport that they are likely to move for him at the turn of the year.

The Daily Mirror reports that Bianconeri manager Antonio Conte is keen to snap up Llorente before Arsenal make their move for the Spaniard. With the backing of the Juventus board, club officials have put together a 145,000 pound per week deal to tempt the Bilbao player, an amount that the Gunners will have difficulty matching.

In addition, Conte is set to deal another blow to Wenger by swooping for Walcott in a bid to strengthen Juventus' options on the right flank. The Italian had previously considered Manchester United's Nani as a possible purchase, but sources in Turin report that Conte now deems Walcott a better buy.

Although Wenger remains optimistic of securing the future of the former Southampton man with a new deal, latest reports suggests that Walcott is disappointed at the club's unwillingness to up their offer of 75,000 pounds per week to meet his desired 100,000 pound per week salary.

If no agreement is reached in January, Wenger is likely to sanction Walcott's sale.
